Stable Records Equipment

At Stable Records the sound is built on a blend of analog character and digital precision. I choose equipment that works for full-band tracking but still delivers the detail you want on vocals or acoustic instruments. The studio combines classic microphones for drums, vocals and guitar amps with reliable preamps and converters that keep the recording open and dynamic. That makes it easy to capture aggressive rock tones as well as more delicate acoustic parts without losing clarity.

For recording I rely on proven microphones from Neumann, AKG, Shure and Sennheiser. Each one has a specific role: some highlight the natural tone of a voice, others handle loud guitar cabinets or kick drums without breaking up. Large-diaphragm condensers are my go-to for vocals and acoustic instruments, while dynamic and small-diaphragm mics help shape drums and amps. With a wide mic palette we can pick the exact color that fits your band.

The studio core is Universal Audio preamps and converters. They bring depth to the low end while keeping transients and detail intact. For character, there are tube preamps and classic compressors that add musical saturation when it is needed. Monitoring is set up with multiple headphone mixes, so each player hears what they need without slowing down the session. That keeps takes focused and reduces unnecessary re-dos.

Guitarists can choose between traditional amps and cabinets or modern modelers with impulse response libraries. This makes it fast to audition different sounds without a long setup. Bass can be tracked through DI, an amp, or a combination of both depending on the arrangement. The goal is to get a tone that already fits the mix, instead of trying to fix it later.

In the mix I use SSL, Universal Audio and Slate Digital plugins, supported by iZotope tools for precise cleanup and finishing. This helps tighten the drums, smooth vocals and keep the low end controlled. Mastering is prepared so the song translates on Spotify, in the car and on stage systems. Equipment is just the tool — the final result is always the priority.

If you are curious about a specific piece of gear or want to record with a particular microphone, let me know. I can recommend what will work best for your style. The list is updated regularly based on what performs best in real sessions, so it keeps growing along with the needs of the bands that record here.
